About The Community Host: Past, Present and Future

The Past

www.com ltd: a company that does what it says on the label. Launched in 1996 amidst the whoosh of the worldwide web, www.com set out to provide bespoke software development and web consultancy to enterprise level organisations that demanded a superior degree of expertise in developing tailor made systems.

Specialising in Microsoft technologies, the company was destined to serve a collection of exceptionally high profile UK names such as Ford Motor Company; BT plc; British Airways and FT.com.

In 2007 with over ten years experience behind them, driven by a thirst to make their expertise in web consultancy financially accessible to the not-for-profit and voluntary sector and a sincere desire to give something back, www.com ltd established The Community Host.

The Present

Websites are no longer just the static showcase that they were back in 1996; they are a place for the world to interact and for businesses, not-for-profits and charitable organisations to get involved with the people that matter to them.

Enter social networking and the impressive MySpace and Microsoft-favoured software by US giant Telligent Systems as the power behind it.

After successful negotiations with Telligent, The Community Host was proud to become one of only six official partners worldwide to be able to license the leading community content platforms Community Server and Graffiti CMS.

And with such a deep-seated ‘in it from the start’ background in the web solutions industry, The Community Host could bring several years experience and advanced expertise to the table, making a unique offering to businesses and organisations at all levels.

The Community Host doesn’t only provide access to the technical expertise that can enhance your web presence, but also the tools to do it: with immense power.

The Future

Our aims for the future are simple:

  1. To provide access to the integration and customisation of Community Server and Graffiti CMS to organisations that would normally find the costs way outside their budget.
  2. To provide superior levels of technical web expertise at a fair value to every type of organisation from micro-businesses and local groups to multi national enterprises.
  3. To become the number one resource for all community related information throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia Pacific.
  4. To provide a comprehensive, fully managed web solutions service to any organisation that has neither the expertise nor the time to manage their own website and social networking platform development.
