Internet security - info please

My subscription to Mcafee has expired and was wondering what to do about interent security and virus protection for my home PCs. Any suggestions?

I would try one of the free ones like AVG from http://www.grisoft.com however you have to dig around to find the free one. There is also a free one available from http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html and http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/download_avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html

Tim, thanks for the information much appreciated! I've had a quick browse and the links you supplied were very useful. So have you used any or all of these interent security or virus scanning products? If so which of these would you suggest I use?

I have used AVG for years. It has many good features, like automatic updates, scheduled scan, email scanning as well as email tagging.

However, I have not used the others - it would be worth comparing features using the websites listed above - can you report back with your findings?

Ok, thanks dude. I must say it's been a novel experience getting advice from a computer literate llama. I feel enriched as a human being as a consequence.

It will be even better to help one out so when I've had a dabble I'll let you know how I got on. Also going to look into what products microsoft provide.
